On Sunday, many of the pews at First Baptist Arlington were filled with 80 married couples, each married for 50 or more years.
"It's inspired a lot of our young families here at our church," Dr. Dennis Wiles, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Arlington said.
Combined the couples have more than 4000 years of marriage and on Sunday they renewed their vows.
Peggy and Bob Fuston joke about their vow renewals because after 58 years of marriage neither of them is leaving the other any time soon.
"We were taught no divorce and we've stuck together through thick and thin," Fuston said.
The same can said for Edna and James Scheuermann who have been married the longest among the group—for 70 years.
"We didn't even know that were was a word like divorce—that was something that was unreal," Scheuermann said.
The two met in high school but it was in church where they found love.
"The attitude and the prevailing opinions about marriage have changed and so it might be more challenging to see this trend continue," Dr. Wiles said.
Both couples shared their advice that shows that faith, commitment and love are the right ingredients make a marriage work for the decades.
