A fatal wrong-way crash killed two people and closed down Interstate 30 at Beach Street early Monday morning.

The crash closed all eastbound lanes the freeway just before the Beach Street exit and forced drivers to exit the freeway and detour around the crash using Lancaster Street or other options.

Signal flares lit up the early morning darkness for miles as Fort Worth police investigated the scene.

According to the police department, a black sedan was traveling the wrong way, driving westbound on the eastbound lanes of I-30 at Beach.

Investigators say that sedan ran into a white, two-door coupe driving eastbound.

Each vehicle had only one person inside, but both have died after the crash, according to police.

Lanes of the freeway were re-opened at 5:59 a.m. Monday, but investigators were still working portions of the scene to identify the parties invovled.

Fast Five Live's Keaton Fox (@KeatonFoxNBC5) shows the scene via Vine:

Previously, in March 2011, a wrong-way crash near that same exchange killed a truck driver and caused a massive fire that scorched two lanes of I-30 at Beach so severely that Texas Department of Transportation had to shut down the area for months to repair.
