A 6-year-old boy was killed when a bus crashed into his house in Long Island, New York, according to police officials.
Police said the bus crashed into a Hempstead house around 9:45 p.m Tuesday after trying to avoid hitting a pedestrian.
The boy, who has not been identified, was inside the house in a front room and became pinned under the bus when it crashed.
He later died at an area hospital.
Officials report at least 15 passengers were on the bus when the accident occured.
A spokesperson for Nassau Inter-County Express, the local transportation system, said the company "is cooperating with police officials, and has its own team investigating the incident."
According to emergency medical services, nine passengers were transported for medical attention.
